In a Strategy for IT class, I had very interesting discussions with Prof. Reza Moazzami and peers about how Android’s fragmentation as a revenue source has hurt Google. I’ll write a more detailed post on how Google’s mobile strategy went south later. In this post, I would like to quickly lay out how much revenue Google might be bringing in via Android.
Per some quick brute force calculations and few assumptions (highlighted in blue), I calculated an Android contribution in 2013 of $7.21 per device per year to Google, up from a 2012 contribution of $6.18/device/yr.
